Garden Residence
A glass pavilion the garden was allowed to close over.
The garden existed first — a mature, overgrown, half-wild thing that the client had spent twenty years making. The house had to be the smaller argument.
It is a single storey, almost entirely glass, held up by slender oak fins at close centres so the structure reads as vertical rhythm rather than as frame. The roof is a thin white plane that appears to float just under the tree canopy.
Planting was brought right up to the glass on every side. From inside, there is no point at which you see the edge of the garden.
